HERB BUTTER
PACKAGING DESIGN
Supplying a wide range of food ingredients and products, Marché Public Montréal (MPM) prides itself on providing fresh, locally produced products to the vibrant Montreal community. The purpose of this project was to carefully craft product packaging for MPM's line of freshly sourced butters. The aim is to satisfy the discerning preferences of both local producers and customers.
The overarching goal is to design butter packaging that perfectly aligns with MPM's commitment to excellence, allowing customers to enjoy quality, locally produced butter while having a unique and satisfying shopping experience.When thinking about packaging methods, there were various packaging methods such as paper packaging, box packaging, and glass bottle packaging.
The purpose of this project is to focus on branding by utilizing Crust Crown's brand identity through logo design to effectively convey the brand's value and message. The ideation process commenced with a clear focus on Crust Crown's core values – providing fresh, organic, and warm baked goods.
The overarching goal throughout the brainstorming process was to create a logo that not only encapsulates the brand's values but also becomes a memorable symbol in the minds of consumers.

Among these various packaging designs, I chose the packaging design that wraps the butter in paper. Paper packaging can give a nature-friendly feel that connects well with MPM's image, and can also have the effect of making producers and consumers feel more friendly and approachable.
The butter packaging design concept harmoniously blends natural elements with modern aesthetics. Inspired by herbs, images of specific herbs and other ingredients are expressed using bold illustrations, which creates a visually appealing and friendly feeling, emphasizing the natural essence of the product. The paper wrap serves as a simple, eco-friendly solution, catering to consumers valuing simplicity and environmental sustainability.
Incorporating stickers adds a practical approach to custom branding, featuring bold illustrations that express a distinct brand identity. While the paper wrap preserves the butter, stickers provide a dynamic and easily modifiable design element, contributing to a visually powerful and memorable brand image.
Navigating the delicate balance between MPM's established image and a modern, eco-friendly aesthetic posed a significant challenge in packaging design. After rigorous iterations, the finalized design successfully integrates these elements, embodying MPM's identity while appealing to a diverse customer base. The outcome is a sophisticated packaging that instills confidence in the product, harmonizing brand values with contemporary sensibilities.
